Abstract
This article deals with the pressing issue of providing the most efficient government export support to the national enterprises. The article describes approaches to classifying the firms into different homogenous groups according to their level of export activity. Besides, the article outlines the possible ways of stimulating the firm at each stage of internationalization process. Apart from this, the article contains thorough analysis of the Russian export support system from the point of view of its correspondence with the actual needs and requirements of the Russian exporters.
