Abstract
The article deals with the influence of American “Progressivism” as a phenomenon in its influence on the perception of the revolutionary process in Russia throughout 1917 and at the beginning of 1918. The author points out directions in the Progressive thought that shaped the attitudes of the American society and leadership toward the Russian Revolution and its participants. It reveals the ideological foundations of the course which the United States took in the “Russian issue” after the Bolsheviks' rise to power.
