Abstract
We offer our readers an excerpt from the book "Mexican Kaleidoscope" by Y.S.CHERNYSH, soviet and Russian diplomatist, who spent many years in various countries of Latin America. The author invites the reader to make an exciting journey along the roads of Mexico, which in the XVI century passed Hernan Cortes, leader of the Spanish conquistadors, the destroyer of the powerful Aztec empire and their religion, based on bloody human sacrifices. Combining, as if in a kaleidoscope, fragments of ancient history and modernity, the author seeks to pay tribute to the feat of Cortes, who created the new country of Mexico, initiating the process of merging ancient Indian cultures with European civilization. The writer looks at Mexico through the eyes of a Soviet journalist, who falls into various situations, sometimes involving a risk to life. All this gives the book an exaggerated character. The action takes place in the 70s of the XX century.
