Abstract

The first part of the article, published earlier in the journal “Slavonic Studies” (2021. № 2), was devoted to the analysis of beliefs about the spirits of natural and domestic loci, as well as personified images of death and disease. The second part examines the Russian beliefs about the demonic properties of the dead people, returning from the other world, and about living people endowed with supernatural abilities (witches, sorcerers). The research Takes into account the data of East Slavic mythology and serves the purpose of creating a collective work on the comparative mythology of all Slavic peoples.
