Автор исследует образ персидского конного гонца в контексте образной ситемы речи и выделяет основные мотивы, которые присутствуют в семантике слова ἄγγαρος и развиваются в речи о сигнальных огнях: быстрота, сверхъестественность, попеременность, законность. В контексте символики трагедии слово ἄγγαρος служит для построения этоса Клитемнестры, через отсылку к «Персам» указывает на ὕβρις Агамемнона и предвещает зрителю страшные преступления в доме Атридов.
