Abstract
Dr. Maksakova analyzes the labor migration problems in Uzbekistan in the context of the new demographic trends and forecasted growth of labor resources. The article outlines the main factors of the labor migration, flow of movement, details of migration regulation and statistics by the state as well as legal and illegal status of migrant workers. As such, the article focuses on positive and negative outcomes of the labor migration for the Uzbek economy. Dr. Maksakova discusses the lack of investment opportunities for remittances in the Uzbek economy and identifies key steps for the government and private entities to ensure a more effective utilization of labor migration for the country's economic development. The article also outlines new methods of international cooperation between sending and receiving states within the post-Soviet territory including the MIRPAL network.
