Abstract
One of the latest achievements of institutional economics is the theory of sustainable change, developed by B. Clark and applied him to entrepreneurial universities. The paper discusses the main elements of this theory, including the mechanisms of institutional transformation and the mechanisms of maintenance of started changes. Particular importance has been given the mechanisms of formation and evolution of institutional will. Examples are given to illustrate the basic principles of the theory. Author discusses the application of the theory to the Russian reality.
