Abstract

The aim of this article is to draw sociologists’ attention to the works of Russian statistics, mathematics, sociologist Alexander Alexandrovich Chuprov (1874–1926). A renowned scholar, whose work is highly valued by his contemporaries, is now virtually forgotten. However, his major works were republished in 1960s, it was carried out a critical analysis of them from the point of view of their significance for statistics. There was no analysis of their significance for sociology. Нis works are virtually unknown for sociologists. The article briefly describes his ideological heritage, primarily «logic of method» concept that has not lost its significance in our time.
